Lyrics to "Uprising" by Muse

Because I absolutely love this song, and found the lyrics quite appropriate for this blog, I decided to post the lyrics for all to read:

The paranoia is in bloom, the PR
The transmissions will resume
They’ll try to push drugs
Keep us all dumbed down and hope that
We will never see the truth around
(So come on!)

Another promise, another scene, another
A package not to keep us trapped in greed
With all the green belts wrapped around our minds
And endless red tape to keep the truth confined
(So come on!)

They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious

Interchanging mind control
Come let the revolution take its toll if you could
Flick the switch and open your third eye, you’d see that
We should never be afraid to die
(So come on!)

Rise up and take the power back, it’s time that
The fat cats had a heart attack, you know that
Their time is coming to an end
We have to unify and watch our flag ascend

They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious

Obama Takes a Bow

I'm a little late on this posting, but I've been meaning to write about it. Some may feel that this is a sign of respect. I feel like this is a sign of weakness. The President of the United States should bow for no one. This picture is sending the message that America in beneath Japan. This isn't the first time the President has bowed to royalty from other nations, below is a picture of him bowing to the King of Saudi Arabia:

It just makes me wonder what team he is playing for. America is a proud nation; America should never bow to another country, and I'm sure other countries would feel the same about never bowing to America. As a matter of fact, I've never seen any other leader take a bow when greeting our President! This doesn't make any sense to me. Like I've said before, some people will argue that he is being respectful, but what I want to know is why so many other leaders have a different greeting for the emperor of Japan, and yet are still considered respectful leaders (see video link below)...

Veterans Day

http://fieldnotes.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2009/11/09/2122732.aspx

The above article is a small but touching article, and it reminds us of the cost of war and the sacrifices that are made by not only the servicemen and women, but also their families. This small story sprung out of the coverage of a much larger tragedy at Fort Hood. The journalist was in line at a Wal-Mart nearby and overheard a conversation between a young pregnant girl in front of her and the cashier. The cashier happened to ask the girl if her husband was as excited about the pregnancy as she was, and the girl responded by saying "he's not here." After a little further prodding by the cashier, the girl said he was killed in Iraq. This story is not unusual. You sometimes get to see a name or a face of a fallen soldier either in a local newspaper or on the news, but you never get to see what family he/she has left behind.

Tomorrow is Veterans Day, and I just wanted to remind everyone to share their appreciation not only to the soldier, but also to his/her loved ones. When a soldier makes a decision to fight for our Country, their whole family is behind him/her. Without the support of their family, a soldier may never be brave enough to serve. Although Veterans Day is only celebrated one day out of the year, please never forget the sacrifices that they have made in order for our Country to be free. Please continue to show support, love and appreciation throughout these trying times of war.

Goverment Healthcare Reform

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33654086/ns/politics-health_care_reform

As you can see from the above article, there are many Americans who are opposed to this bill. My take on healthcare reform is that there should never be a person, especially a child who is denied healthcare coverage in this Country. Health insurance companies most definitely need to be more closely monitored because they have been abusing the system and their power for way too long. Healthcare should be more affordable to the American people, but not free. This leads me to the only portion of this bill that I can not agree with: the government-run public option. To me, this is a fast track to the government overtaking the entire system by putting independent health insurance companies out of business. If this happens, you can kiss the quality of your healthcare coverage goodbye, and I pray that nothing serious ever happens to you because it may be a long wait and a lot of hassle to get the care you are in need of. When has a government-run service EVER run smoothly and without hassle? What is your take?

Young Voters

"Last year, 23-year-old Rashida Hill watched the presidential debates, visited the college political party meetings and put a Barack Obama bumper sticker on her townhouse door. She voted for Obama because she felt like the election was about "being a part of something." But on Tuesday, the Virginia Commonwealth University student didn't bother voting in the governor's race because, she said, the candidates didn't give her anything to get excited about."

I'm curious to find out how politics can become exciting to young people. Are the issues going on within our Country not exciting enough? Are the collapsing economy and war not exciting? I know this past election wasn't for presidency, but the local candidates who were elected do have an effect on national issues as well. The problem with many young voters is they have a mentality that nothing bad will ever happen to them. They trust the government too much. Most of these voters are college students who have not yet found out what the "real world" is about. I can't say that about all of them, because there are some who are finding out now how difficult it is to obtain a job after graduation. Which brings me to my point: until these issues start to affect young people directly, they will never have the drive to cast a vote. I'm 27, and I used to be just like that, so I can sympathize. My goal is to try to educate and motivate as many voters as I can to know the issues, form an opinion and take a stand. After all, that is what America is about, is it not?

A little bit about me...

I just want to clear the air a little for anyone who reads my blog. I am not a Republican. I am not a Democrat. I am not a Conservative. I am not a Liberal. I'm that person who is right in the middle. My voting history is Republican/Conservative for the simple reason that I haven't seen a credible Democrat worth voting for yet. What I would really love to see is a 3rd party win. I don't know if the 3rd parties will ever push their way past the elephants and donkeys in my lifetime, but I certainly hope so! The 2 party representations that have taken over this Country have not seemed to come to conclusions on how to solve problems. These problems have gotten increasing worse over the past 8 years, and as far as the current administration goes, I haven't yet seen a light at the end of the tunnel. Because the elephants and the donkeys can never seem to agree on anything, why don’t we start voting for the middle-of-the-roaders, who can make unbiased decisions? Decisions that have the people's best interest in mind, not decisions that have a particular party's best interest in mind.
